If you were to stand at the edge of Ashland and stare down the tracks all the way to the horizon, you would see them run right through the house of Miss Phoebe Finn.
Of course, the tracks didn't really run through the house. It was an optical illusion. A train running through a house would not be at all convenient for anybody concerned.If you got closer to the house, you would notice that the tracks curved behind it, disappearing behind an acre of woods covering Mis Phoebe's backyard. Still, because of the illusion, her house became known as the one at the end of the tracks.
