In My Orchid Mind
I thought to write a song for you, today
as I sat by an old neroli brook
but it was all blues and reds, soft purples and pinks
colors that fade in comparison to you
In my head I had it all
the silent moments pregnant with vows
the moment I first met you
frozen into time and tucked away like amber lessons
the fragrance of youth, of summer nights
One wet slipper sneaking out the door
ten wetter kisses and a woman became a girl in the arms of a boy
your butterscotch lips melting my mimosa heart
You became the reason for every season’s treason
my viola cucullata
my papaver rhoeas
my gentiana verna
I wrote a bouquet for you today my boy
but when the trees and birds and winds
and paper and pen--anxious eavesdroppers
readied to taste of you
I selfishly saved it away in my orchid mind.

Anytime a book is done, it is a great achievement and the author should be congratulated especially by true friends. The phony ones will get jealous and maybe not say a thing, start treating you funny and acting all stupid. Even some family members, not to leave out AD, will do the same. Maybe this is just in my world, then again it is reality in human relations. Both of my oldest brothers and some of my friends got all stupid when I did my first book, then when I did the second, one of my brothers really showed his ass. Any way enjoy your success Bernice and don't let any of the fools blow it. cheers
