“Torenis’ Restorante? I’ve never heard of this place.” Amara looked quizzically at him. Corbin just smirked at her as the valet opened his door.
Corbin opened Amara’s door and assisted her. He then opened the restaurant door for her.
At the reservation desk, the host smiled. “Welcome to Torenis’ Restorante! Do you have reservations?”
“Stidel, Corbin.” He said confidently.
The host skimmed down the list, “Ah, yes, it’ll be just a moment, sir.” And he walked away.
“How do you know about this place?” Amara was looking around in awe. She walked toward the massive fish aquarium, and a big yellow fish followed her finger up and down the glass. Amara smiled.
“My Pap brought Gran here on their first date.” He held his hand out to her, and she took it gently while gazing into his eyes.
“Right this way, sir.” The host was back and ushering them to their seats.
They were on a raised area of the restaurant, overlooking what appeared to be a dance floor. And sure enough, Amara spotted a small band off to one side, playing slow music.
Corbin pulled Amara’s chair out for her. Once he was seated, the maître d' approached the table.
“Can I interest you in something to drink? We have some fantastic red wine or champagne if you prefer.” He seemed to be staring a little too much at Amara for Corbin’s taste, so he cleared his throat, bringing the guy’s attention back to him.
“As great as that would be, we are both under age, so I think I’ll start with some ginger ale.” Corbin said then looked Amara’s direction.
“Oh, yes, I’ll have some too.”
“Very good.” The maître d' nodded and walked away.
The evening couldn’t have gone any better. They each ate their fill, enough that they turned down dessert, and Amara noticed that the maître d' kept glancing her way.
Corbin noticed it too, but chose to keep his mouth shut; he didn’t want to get kicked out of the restaurant on Valentine’s Day for punching some asshole.
The orchestra was playing another romantically slow song, and Amara smiled mischievously at Corbin.
“What?” he set his glass down.
“Do you know how to dance?” she grinned as she stood up.
“Huh?” she had pulled him up, and she laughed.
“It’s a shame that no one is out there dancing, let’s go.” She tugged at his arm, and that’s when she saw his neck and cheeks flush. “You’ve never danced to this kind of song before, have you?” When he shook his head, she sighed, “Well, you’ll never learn unless you try.”
