It's said that Jesus sweated blood in the garden
So what's the prognosis?
It's a condition known as hematidrosis
The decision to do what he didn't have to do
impresses me more than him being beaten black and blue
But just so you know
The whip had pieces of sharp bone which embedded
This was what caused His skin to get shredded
So shredded that part of the spine was exposed by deep cuts
To do what He chose to do took a lot of guts
The sharp bone filled whip
basically made the skin rip
Braided leather thongs with metal balls inside
Bruised His skin while the bone stripped His side
Starting from the shoulders to the back of the leg
But no matter how badly they beat Him
They couldn't make Him beg
Sweating blood in the garden, filled with fear
But He didn't back out from a flogging where His veins were laid bare
The muscles and bowels of His body open to exposure
But enduring what He did brought the world closure
Many people would die when they were beaten this way
He could have fled from the garden but He chose to stay
Showing as much courage as David with a sling and a rock
The beating caused Him to go into hypovolemic shock
The heart racing to try to pump blood that wasn't there
This usually happened after the sufferer's veins were laid bare
His kidneys stopped producing urine
So He experienced severe thirst
You haven't heard the worst
Respiratory acidosis slowed down His breath
Hanging there on the verge of death
Carbon dioxide dissolved as carbonic acid
causing the acidic level of the blood to increase
Hanging there wishing for death's sweet release
Nails driven through His wrists and driven through His feet
The acidosis causing an irregular heartbeat
He gave up His life and gave us His best
Hanging there dead from cardiac arrest
Hypovolemic shock caused a sustained rapid heart rate
His ability to see the future allowed Him to know His fate
A collection of fluid in the membranes around the lungs and heart
His death on the cross gave us a brand new start
"Lord, into your hands I commit my spirit"
He was heard to shout
The spear thrust into His side
caused the pericardial and pleural effusion to come out
Skeptics saying He was taken down and revived
are just messing with your head
At this point there was absolutely no doubt that Jesus was dead
They shattered the lower leg bones
so you couldn't push up to catch a breath
This was how the soldiers speeded up death
But using the spear already confirmed to them that Jesus was dead
So skeptics going on about His legs not being broken
are just messing with your head
In 1968 something happened that wasn't plastered over the news
Archaeologists found the remains of about 36 Jews
The biblical account of crucifixion was matched
One victim had a seven-inch nail in his feet
with small pieces of the olive wood cross attached
So now you know that crucifixion wasn't a work of fiction
The idea that Jesus lived through this should be a very hard sell
Roman soldiers were experts at killing people and they did it well
They knew without a doubt when a person was dead
So don't let the skeptics mess with your head
His body craving fluids to replace the lost blood volume
All this before He carried the horizontal beam to His doom
The beating left Him in critical condition
But still He continued to finish His mission
He carried the patibulum, the horizontal crossbar
It was a miracle that He'd even made it that far
Suffering a fate that He didn't deserve
Spikes tapered to a sharp point
and driven through the median nerve of the wrist
of the world's greatest exorcist
People thinking the nails went through the hands just made me frown
If this had happened the nails would have torn the skin and He would have fallen down
While connected to the crossbeam
He was hoisted up to the vertical stake
His executioners unaware that in killing Him
they were making a huge mistake
Working methodically they never rushed
Nails were driven through His feet and the bones were crushed
To endure this ordeal took incredible strength
His arms were stretched six inches in length
What He endured on the cross was hotly debated
Now you know that both shoulders were dislocated
Crucifixion was an incredibly painful sensation
An agonizingly slow death by asphyxiation
Hanging on the cross in critical condition
Stress on His muscles and diaphragm
put His chest into the inhale position
He did not scream, He did not wail
But He had to push up on His feet in order to exhale
A man who all His life had done only good
Now rubbing His back against the cross's coarse wood
His back getting rubbed until it was raw
No longer able to push up He couldn't breathe anymore
If a prisoner escaped the responsible soldiers would be put to death
So they would have definitely made sure that Jesus breathed His last breath
All the skeptics saying He never died are wrong
You can't fake the inability to breath for long
Nails driven through His wrists so He wouldn't fall
A spear in His side settled it once and for all
Everything that the skeptics have to say is just talk
When nails have been driven through your feet you're unable to walk
Arms stretched and pulled could no longer be used
So skeptics saying He never died are confused
What He endured for the world should leave everybody impressed
He intentionally walked into the arms of His betrayer and didn't resist arrest
He knew what was coming and was willing to go through it
From beatings to whippings to crucifixion He never blew it
He didn't back out even if He was tempted
to avoid a fate from which Roman citizens were exempted
He knew that by staying in the garden He was sealing His fate
His life showed that the purest love can conquer the purest hate
