Affirmations are useful tools for turning around negative thoughts. The poems are arranged in order from darker themes to lighter, more spiritual themes. Letting go
is the song of stars tumbling
from black sky backdrop to rocks,
splintered on foggy mountains,
falling in a mad rush through thicket
and brush, sparks shooting out like
points of light, sinking through grey
bush, yellow flowers dotting the landscape
all the way to the sea’s abyss, rolling to
rocks where waves, white in their fury,
wash over the shattered remains, cleanse
the bruises blue with hurt, drop further
onto waves away from the stones,
the hard edges, to the pure calm flow
of the Pacific seas, the eternal rocking
in the womb of God, the back and forth
cradle of life held within the sea’s arms,
the single soothing serenity of green water,
washing away all the creases and tears
from centuries of wounds and slights
into the final undertow of release,
the to and fro of letting go.
