It’s 6:30 am and the last thing I wanna do is get up! So I don’t. I fall asleep again, only to wake up to a light-rapping knock on my door. For God's sake! Go away! I think to myself.
“Miss Jessica? It’s time to get up,” says our butler, Smith.
“Oh! I don’t want to get up! Please fetch my mother.”
“Yes Miss.” I fell asleep again. For about a minute. That’s when I heard Smith’s voice again, behind my door.
“Mrs. Houl, Miss Jessica wanted you, claiming she does not want to get up.”
O good Lord! I thought, Will I ever get back to my sleep?! That’s when my mom stepped in.
“Hello Jessica.”
“Mother.”
“What’s the problem?”
“I don’t want to get up.”
“After spending all night watching canceled soaps, I’m sure you don’t. I told you to go to bed but you just had to-“
“Mother! Back to the task at hand?!”
“Yes all right. But I can’t imagine why you’d want to sleep on your first day of high school.”
I gasped.
“But if you want to sleep in, I’ll call the school and have them let you come in late.”
“That won’t be necessary, mother. Thank you, good-bye.”
“All right-“
“Wait!” I exclaimed as she made a move to go. “What time does school start?”
“7:30.”
“WHAT?!”
“Yep.”
“At Mattafacet, school starts at 8:15!”
“Well at Mattafacet High School, school starts at 7:30. Be happy. In some high schools, classes begin at 6:45 or earlier.”
“Ah! What am I gonna wear-I only have 50 minutes!”
“Tsk! Your sisters would have been worrying about supplies and classes, navigation and teachers by now!” Ugh! Here it goes again! The lecture on how my
stupid older sisters, Jennifer and Ashley are better than me! Ashley, the middle child graduated from high school as valedictorian. She’s in her second year of Harvard, studying law. The oldest, Jennifer, graduated last year with honors in law, an engagement, and a contract with the top law firm in the country.
I also graduated last year. From Mattafacet Middle School. With no honors. No boyfriend. No chance of ever getting into Harvard. I couldn’t even believe I passed. I scratched by with 3 C’s, 1 F, 2 D’s, and 1 B.
I couldn’t wait to get away from Mattafacet MS. With all the teachers nagging me on how much better my sisters behaved and worked. Who cares? I’m not my sisters, so why compare them with me? My teachers never understood that. It’s been 8 ½ years since Jennifer’s been to Mattafacet HS, 5 ½ since Ashley has too. Maybe teachers there won’t chastise me through them. Yeah, right. What was I thinking?
It’s been 12 ½ years since Jen’s been to Mattafacet MS, 9 ½ since Ash has too. And teachers there still chastised me through them! Now, with even less years between Jen, Ash, and their high school days, how are teachers there not going to expect a lot from me?
I practically shouted at my mom to get out, because yet again she reminded me of all that was on my plate.
Now I only had 45 minutes to choose an outfit. Great! I went shopping yesterday with a goal in mind-to look better than Elisha Kasey.
Where can I begin to describe Elisha Jana Kasey? I despise her! She is flawless, with long, wavy, inky, jet-black hair. She has a perfect figure on her 5 ft, 8 ½ inch body. She has fierce green eyes. And is the most popular girl at Mattafacet MS. She graduated with straight A’s and honors. She graduated; being declared the most popular girl, good-looking girl of the year, miss congeniality, best smile, and best outfits. And she has Creighton.
Creighton is the love of my life. Has been since fifth grade. We went out in fourth, when I didn’t really care; just wanted the opportunity to say I had a cute boyfriend like everyone else. Then I dumped him in fifth grade, later I realized what a mistake it was!
For years I tried to get him back, but he wouldn’t budge, knowing that I had used him! Then, in eighth grade, he returned. With Elisha on his arm! But he gave me hope one night at Danielle McCafel’s party, when he lovingly and passionately kissed me!
He put me on a cloud of hope and triumph, only to have me crashing down when he chased after Elisha when she caught us. And later got back together with her.
I honestly don’t know what he sees in her! I mean, sure she has the hot look, smart brains, and absolute popularity, but she’s not nice! I still burn with shame and anger at the fact that she had the nerve to confront/accuse, diss, and order me. Sure I had been slightly wrong by making up that cheating rumor and then telling Creighton I saw it, but it was out of my love for him!
She overreacted and blackmailed me into telling Creighton the embarrassing
truth! If I had known she’d threaten to sue me for slander-whatever the hell that is!-if I didn’t tell Creighton the truth- I wouldn’t have done it! I hate her! She’s not even filthy rich and has everything! While I have all the money I want and need along with
condescending parents!
I take a quick shower, knowing that it’ll probably take over 20 minutes to decide on an outfit. Surprisingly, it didn’t. I chose the one I liked the best, when out shopping: a blue plaid skirt, a baby blue V-neck t-shirt, blue high heels with crystals on the straps, (if I had PE that day, o well. Less sweat for me, then) and a baby blue hat-the French type (if teachers didn’t want me wearing it, o well). I also had a cute, little blue, Gucci purse; where I’d put my make-up, cell phone, and wallet.
As you can see, I was decked out in blue. It goes perfectly with my baby blue eyes and long platinum blonde hair (which I straight ironed and laid on my shoulders). I applied rosy pink lipstick, blush, and eye shadow to my face, along with black eyeliner and mascara. I didn’t like my china pale complexion and got a tan during my shopping spree. I looked kick-ass hot in my outfit and make-up. And as I stared at myself in my humongous mirror, I thought, look out Elisha!
