This series was spawned by telling bedtime stories to my daughters. Sheila has now grown into several small adventures and my 4 year old wants to buy the "Sheila the mouse" movie! So if you're reading this PIXAR, just contact me.
Once upon a time, lived a tiny little mouse in a BIG white house with 17 windows and 17 sets of green shutters (just on the front) and pretty blue carpet in the living room.
The little mouse was named Sheila and she lived inside the wall of the big white house with 17 sets of windows and 17 green shutters (just on the front). From looking out her tiny front door, Sheila could see across the bright blue carpet that covered the living room and into the hallway that led to the kitchen.
One day Sheila went to her tiny little mouse refrigerator, only to discover that she was completely out of cheese, (everyone knows how much little mice love cheese). ESPECIALLY the thin little slices of cheese wrapped in the noisy plastic wrappers.
“There’s only one solution” Sheila thought as she looked out of her little mouse house (which was a little crack in the wall of a BIG white house with 17 windows and 17 sets of green shutters (just on the front) and pretty blue carpet in the living room.
“I’ll just have to go into the kitchen and try and find some cheese in there” Sheila said to herself as she slipped into her nice green traveling sweater and headed out the door.
Softly, quietly, she tiptoed across the pretty blue carpet in the living room of the BIG white house (remember? With 17 windows and 17 sets of green shutters, and that’s just on the front). Sheila silently crossed the carpeted floor until at last she reached the hall.
“Just a little farther” she whispered to herself “and I’ll have a delicious piece of cheese”.
When SUDDENLY!!!! Darrel the cat happened to limp out of the kitchen at that exact moment, milk still dripping from his very long, very twitchy whiskers.
Sheila stood very still and closed her eyes. She was so afraid, because she knew that mean old Darrel would eat her up. Sheila stood very still, listening and hoping that Darrel hadn’t seen her she knew that even with a limp such a tiny mouse could never out run such a big strong cat.
She twitched her little mouse nose to the left, and then to the right, sniffing the air to see if Darrel was still close by, (she was too frightened to open her eyes). She could tell from the smell that Darrel had limped to his favorite pillow further down the hall. At last she peeked and watched as Darrel strrrrrretcheddd and yawned and laid down on his old torn and ratty pillow that was really too small, Sheila noticed, for a cat as big as Darrel.
What Sheila DIDN’T realize was that Darrel had seen her and he was already working on a plan to catch her when she wasn’t expecting it. Darrel watched quietly, pretending to be asleep as Sheila made her way down the hallway toward the kitchen.
Sheila finally reached the refrigerator, climbed up onto the counter top to get ready to make her way up through the ice dispenser in the door to get a piece of cheese. She gathered her green sweater tightly around her as she knew it would be cold in there, she looked around one last time to make sure the coast was clear and she took a DEEEEEEP breath and gathered all of her strength…. And jumped as high and as far as she could and clung tightly to the handle of the ice dispenser. Carefully she climbed up and through the ice dispenser into the door and up and over the carton of milk.
Finally she reached the little section of the refrigerator that held the cheese. Carefully she separated one slice from the others, feeling the cool, smooth wrapper as she carried it toward the edge of the door to push it open and climb back down to the floor.
Once back on the floor Sheila took a quick look around again and started toward the hallway. Being careful not to make too much noise because she remembered that Darrel was asleep on his pillow….or so she thought.
Just as Sheila rounded the corner to start toward the living room, and before she had time to say “MOUSE McDOOGLE!” Darrel snatched her up with his paw and she was being held an inch from his face.
“ohhh no!!” Sheila thought to herself, “now what do I do?”
Sheila was certain that Darrel was going to swallow her with one big gulp and she’d never see her little mouse house again. Sheila closed her eyes tightly and began to shiver and cry.
Just then, Sheila heard a somewhat familiar voice.
“What’s the matter Miss Mouse?” asked Darrel.
“I thought you were going to eat me for a snack and I was scared!” said Sheila.
“No, no, no!” Cried Darrel. “I only wanted to ask you for your help”.
“MY help?” asked Sheila.
“Yes please.” said Darrel. “You see I have this terribly sore claw on my very back paw and it hurts awfully bad. I’m not able to see it but I think it may need some medicine.”
“Awww you poor thing” said Sheila. “Let’s have a look at your foot”.
With that, Darrel lowered Sheila gently to the ground and held up his very back foot. Carefully and tenderly Sheila examined Darrel’s sore claw on his very back paw. “Oh, I see your problem” Sheila said to Darrel.
“You do?” Darrel asked.
“Yes” said Sheila. “Your claw is cracked and it looks like it might be infected. But don’t worry, I have some ointment that will help it.” Sheila said.
“Will it hurt?” asked Darrel.
“Oh no, not at all.” Said Sheila amazed at the thought of such a big strong cat worrying about medicine. Then she opened her little mouse purse and pulled out the tiny tube of medicine. With gentle mouse fingers Sheila applied the medicine to Darrel’s sore claw and then she found a clean mouse hanky and carefully wrapped it up to keep dirt out of it.
“Make sure you are very careful as you walk for a few days, and then you’ll be as good as new” said Sheila to Darrel.
“Oh THANK YOU!” exclaimed Darrel as he smiled his biggest cat smile. It feels better already. “Perhaps I can do a favor for you someday.” He said.
“Just take care of that paw” Sheila said as she gathered her cheese and started home for dinner thankful for the new friend she had made.
“I will!” said Darrel as he waved good bye and headed back to his pillow for some rest. Thankful that his new friend had taken care of his foot.
The end.
