Hal falls in love with Tanja, a vampire. He strives to cure her of her curse.
Hal discovers a coffin in a cave. Tanja is a beautiful vampire who is entombed there. He falls in love with her and discovers she can be cured of her curse. That involves a two step process. They are soulmates. The first step is for Tanja to take Hal's blood. The second step is for Tanja to be subjected to a lightning strike, but when she submits to that she loses her memory of Hal. He is a stranger to her.
Excerpt
Suddenly, he felt someone grab his feet, someone with incredible strength and they started dragging him out.
“Steve! How did you know I was here? I never knew you was so strong.”
Hal suffered scrapes as he and the two bags of gold were pulled out. As soon as he was free of the narrow opening, he was going to hug Steve and ask him a bunch of questions on how he knew he was there.
It wasn’t Steve. Hal couldn’t believe his eyes. The woman from the coffin lifted him up, slammed him against the wall and bared her teeth, two of them extended beyond the others in length. Hal screamed, “NO!,” as she went for his neck but stopped short, her eyes, her expression mellowed from her initial savagery. Hal dropped the bags of gold coins and fainted.
