As Eileen's glance flitted around the room, it got caught in the web of Daniel's intense scrutiny. Because of the crowd they stood very close, and now Daniel reached out to take her champagne glass and set it, along with his, on a nearby table. Then he took her hands and pulled her close. Her heart pounded and she knew she should step away, but she couldn't tear her gaze from his. What was he doing? Was he going to kiss her right here in the middle of Mirabelle's party? The notion zinged warmly through her middle. The moment his arms went around her, Glen Miller's dreamy rendition of, `I'll Be Home For Christmas,' filled the night, blocking out the world around her. His arms felt so good, so right. She placed her left hand on his shoulder as Daniel pressed her other hand to his chest where she could feel the strong, steady beat of his heart.
