Chapter 1
Great Purpose
There are many types of people in this world. There are those who know why they are here. Those who think they know why they are here. Many who wonder why they are here. And, of course, there are those who have no clue why they are here and really don’t care.
Up until a few months ago I was one of those who thought I knew, but I wasn’t quite sure. I knew things about me that seem to lead towards my reason for being here on earth, but I was still trying to put the pieces together. It wasn’t really that hard to figure out. But, because of certain views set forth by others, I was looking beyond who I already was.
The reality was that I was looking at myself from what is called “a worldly perspective”. One that said that I was just another person, with some ability to do a few things, but it was nothing special and I was just like the next person. Wrong!
Not only was that perspective wrong but it was very me. I allowed other peoples views to crippling. I didn't see myself correctly; as My Creator saw sidetrack me. I actually started to fall into the “I’m just a human” way of thinking.
I knew a few key factors that would make up my destiny but I had yet to take them seriously. It was mostly just talk about what I wanted to do, but never really understood the impact that would one day come with these abilities I brushed off...
At the lowest point in my life I began to know that I had purpose that no one else could fulfill but me. At the time when I thought very little of myself, My Creator said “Shalonda, you have great purpose.” “I have plans for you.”
After that I saw things like I had never seen them before. I then realized that being an encouragement to others, giving to others, sharing with others, etc. was just apart of who I was...
What I am trying to get you to see here is that everyone has something great to offer. I know you probably have somebody on your mind that you think I may be wrong about, but even them. You'd be surprised what even that lazy cousin is hiding in their being.
Realizing what you have that makes you great is as simple as knowing yourself. That's right. The first step to knowing YOUR great purpose is to start getting to know YOU.
