The book called Helen was born out of the need to preserve: his-story and her-

story in a manner all too often lost due to the pressures of the "cares of the world"

imposed upon us today.  It was born out of the necessity to inculcate: to inculcate in

our children the importance of reviving the age-old practice of keeping a diary, a

daybook, a journal.  And finally, it was born our of the necessity to cast aside, but

not away, the rigid requirements of formal writing and embark on the exciting journey

of authorship.  Helen represents a collection of thoughts and memories of a

consortium of nine brothers and sisters and a Church determined to pass on to

generations to come the wisdom, love and unserstanding found in their leader and

their mother.
