Arlie is a lovable, curious alligator who longs to speak to the creatures (humans) he encounters at the beach. When a little girl comes up and says, "Hello," Arlie gets so excited that he does what he's heard his father do--he bellows--which doesn't sound friendly at all and creates chaos. The story concludes with Arlie vowing he'll figure out how to communicate with the creatures if it's the last thing he does.
Told from an alligators point of view, the story encourages children to think as they help Arlie figure out what the flat round saucers flying through the air and the round containers filled with sand, are.
This unique story-song picture book can stand alone but works best with the follow-along CD that is fully produced with actors, music and sound effects. Children as young as two have picked up the 4-snappy tunes on first listen.
For that classroom connection, the Arlie the Alligator Communication Activity Guide contains the full theatrical script, a full reader's theater script, sheet music and multiple classroom activities keyed grades K-6+.
The theatrical musical production of Arlie the Alligator has been performed by children and adults from Ohio to Alaska.
