Junie\, Iggy and Allie are teenagers in East Bay, Cape Cod in 1942 during WW ll. The atmosphere of was hangs over that seaside town like a winter fog. Men leave to join the fight and the women left behind wait for their return trying to stay faithful. The three boys do their part by patrolling the beach as volunteers as U-boats create havoc to American shipping off shore. One boy comes upon a covert mission launched by a U-boat and he is placed in dire danger by a spy.
