An anthology of five fictional short stories, focusing on men and women who will stop at nothing to get what they want. If it means disguising themselves as benevolent individuals and destroying lives along the way, they are up for the thrill. They will use romance, lust, greed, manipulation and deceit as preludes to suck unsuspecting people out of their nest egg.
The Characters
Paradise Baptiste wanted to have it all, at any cost. Through lust, sex and manipulation, she was going to make her dreams a reality, and the man she met on an online dating site, would unwittingly be the one to fulfill those dreams.
Dafoe Tang, who was a married man and the co-founder of a successful real estate agency, hired Tiana Bates, a naive teen. He became her boss, mentor and lover. The tryst went on for over fives years, but when he fired her, the affair came to an abrupt end. She was determined then to get even and make him pay for his lies, but a message left on her voice mail would thwart those plans, and a devious plot was about to take place that would lead to her downfall.
Harry Goto, thought he was the world’s smartest con artist and above reproach. Soon, the tables would turn, and his cunning acts would have disastrous consequences, thanks to a chance meeting between two strangers.
Faith Bell was a fashion designer who took the media and the fashion world by storm. She had great plans for House of Fashions, which she took over from her mother, but a rejection from several banks for a business loan, a call from an alluring stranger and an unforeseen incident, would detour those dreams and leave her and the company in complete turmoil.
Serenity Jones, a freelance illustrator, was leaving a Christmas party. Due to an unexpected blizzard, she decided to take a cab; many were off duty, and some vacant cabs would pass her by. As she started to walk towards the bus stop, a cabby honked his horn, got her attention, and stopped. When she got into his cab, her ride would become a nightmare on treachery road.

When Dafoe hired Tiana, she was very impressionable. He made so many promises to her that she actually believed all the rubbish that came out of his mouth, like telling her he was planning to leave his wife when he got his affairs in order. The couple would meet in empty for-sale homes and off the beaten path motels and make zealous love for hours. He would always utter, “You are my soul mate. My wife does not understand me the way you do, and you bring such joy into my life when we are together. I can be myself around you. At times, Hope can be frigid and never wants to try new lovemaking techniques or positions.” And always, Tiana would fall for his lines. When they were together, she was always on planet lust. Sometimes the sex was so intense that she would cry out for more. As far as she knew, it was just a matter of time before he would divorce his wife, and Tiana and Dafoe would be working together and expanding her agency into a well-respected enterprise. Then reality smacked her in the face, and when he fired her and turned his back on her, she recognized then that he was never planning to leave his wife but was just using Tiana to satisfy his own carnal needs. What he could not get from his wife, he got from Tiana. Even though she was a successful entrepreneur, she was still lonely and agonizing for some passion and romance. Dafoe was her first love, and he was a hard act to replace, but no matter how long it took, she was going to make him pay for his lies and deceit.
