The forest is full of interesting and fascinating things. One might even think the animals that live there have probably seen them all. Who can tell? We can be sure of one thing at least and that is that the world gets smaller every day. In addition, as humankind ventures farther and farther into the forest, the animals that call it home venture outside. With so many things on the move at once, it is reasonable to believe some things are left behind. Perhaps even a Gold Coin. Sidney and Jack have lived in the forest all of their lives, and like all of the animals there they have had a chance to study mankind close up and at a distance. No doubt they have learned as much from us as we have from them. The only question remaining is this: Is that a good thing? This story of friendship will answer that question once and for all. Come on in and let the journey begin.

Rassilon and the Gold Coin
If you have been keeping up with the post on NBC’s Treasure Hunters Boards, you will know that Tonny Brown, of Team Brown, has been coming into his own with several projects on both the front and back burners. These include a comic based on the exploits of “Wild Hanlon” family, a Comic book call “Jurassic Knights” and a up coming book, a children’s story, entitled, “The Gold Coin” The Adventures of Jack and Sidney.”
After much arm twisting on my part, Tonny E-mailed me a copy of his story for my review and after a week of nail biting, mostly on Tonny’s part, I am prepared to share with you my thoughts on his children’s story.
Simply as I can, in three words… “I Liked it, Tonny!” You have done your family proud.
The tale of “The Gold Coin” is a tale of the south, in the reminiscent vain of Joe Chandler Harris’s tales of “Br’er Rabbit” with a touch of A. A. Milne’s “Winnie the Pooh”
Tonny Brown has created “The Wood” a small forest adjoining the property of Old Farmer Johnson and his daughter “Princess” He has peopled The Wood with animals that mirror all their Human counterparts. They can be just as wise, or just as petty and vain as humans we know in our own lives, without losing their childlike charm.
Without revealing too much, The Gold coin is a simple tale. A tale of how animals view their lives and their place within this world, all in a very set way. This view point is the basis of the Created harmony within The Wood.
But, this harmony is disrupted, with the discovery of a single Gold coin in the wood and the ensuing fight over its possession threatens to shake the foundation of this peaceful community, if a solution everyone can agree on can be found, as to who is the rightful owner of the coin.
Tonny Brown’s story is for children and is designed to teach and show children that the true worth in our lives is not the gold found at our feet, but the gold found in the hearts of your friends.
If I have one regret and, it is that this story is too short. For like Br’er Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh, the adventures of Jack and Sidney should have been only one of a compilation of stories about “The Wood” rather than a single short story. It left me only wanting more.
Tonny, I can only wish you well with the success of your story. I can not wait to see how you may have illustrated this.
