A boy named Rudy breaks his mom's treasured vase and blames his little brother and sister. His mom sends him on an errand and he trips into a hole where he finds a vase similar to the one he broke. He picks it up and out comes a cloud that becomes a creature that offers him three wishes. Rudy soon stumbles into an adventure that helps him see things in a different light.

Rudy is a real trouble maker. He lies, cheats, and steals. He doesn't care when he makes his sister cry and he doesn't even show appreciation when his brother spends the entire night cleaning his room for him. When Mom shows the kids a green antique vase she just brought home, she asked everyone to be very careful near it. Of course, Rudy carelessly knocks it over and it smashes into a million tiny pieces. Sadly, Rudy doesn't even care. Not only does he lie and blame the damage on his brother and sister, he also smiles when he thinks he's gotten away with it. While off running an errand Rudy falls into a big hole in the ground. As he tries to claw his way out he finds a vase just like the one he recently broke. Amazingly, a cloud named "Cirrus of Karma" emerges from the vase and offers Rudy three wishes. Rudy's first two wishes were predictable but his third wish, to make the scary kids go away, has surprising results. Some younger children may have difficulty understanding the deeper concepts presented in this picture book, but other kids will hopefully learn the values of honesty by not doing what Rudy does. The colorful and glossy full-size illustrations add to the appeal of this book.

"Rudy and Cirrus of Karma" is an engaging children's picture book telling the story of Rudy who finds he has three wishes from a creature called Cirrus and he's uncertain if he's used those wishes well. A thoughtful read of trying to make the world a better place, "Rudy and Cirrus of Karma" is both written and illustrated by R. M. Smith and tells a good story with a powerful message.
