The folks down in Memphis gave her praise and would come from miles just to listen. All that glitters ain’t gold and after having six children, she would eventually have a lot of explaining to do, particularly to Walter her husband at the time in Chicago. If the Panama Limited could talk a lot could be said, especially about Stigg who worked the 57 line from Chicago to New Orleans.
She walked away from her children more than 13 years before, and now has to face her lies and deception head on struggling to seek forgiveness. So many lies had been told about who Augie’s father really was, Loraine didn’t have a clue and Walter wasn’t about to claim ownership and didn’t give no never mind about the situation either, and would not be moved. She walked towards the medicine cabinet, removing a bottle of aspirin from the shelf. “Now what did I do with that napkin?” she mused, fastening the cap. “What was that woman's name? Here it is, Effie Braudmore.” she repeated, deciding to give her a call. After several rings she hung up and redialed the number, thinking she had misdialed the first time.
“Hello...?”
“Ah yes please... may I speak to Effie Braudmen?” she said, in her most proper tone.
“You mean Broadmore?”
“Yes I'm sorry Broadmore, that's the name.”
“Well this is Effie. People have trouble with my name all the time. I just wanted to make sure you were calling the right place. You were sent to me weren't you?” she questioned, feeling unsure.
“Yeah... a friend of mine named Irutha told me to call you, and for me to tell you that she sent me. My name is Loraine.” she said. Her voice unsteady, as she fumbled trying to light a cigarette.
“I can tell you're troubled, and I think I know why you've come to me. Talk to me, it's ok. Just tell me what's got you so upset this morning.” she spoke in a soft, low tone.
“Well you picked up on that and you don't even know nuthin about me.” she replied, stunned.
“Yeah, I know. That's what I do. Something tells me I need to set up a reading for you because we're going to need to spend a lot more time together. Let me look at my book.” she paused. “What about day after tomorrow, is that ok?”
“Yeah, that'll be alright.”
“Ok then, I'll mark you down for day after tomorrow; tell me your name again.”
“Loraine... my name is Loraine.”
“Ok Loraine, so I'll see you at around two o'clock day after tomorrow. My usual fee is fifty-dollars for the first time visit. The more work you need of course it's more, but we'll see what we can do to work on you ok?”
“Alright I'll see you then.” Loraine's desire to have Stigg back in her life grew stronger and stronger. If things didn't work out with Effie Braudmore, she had already begun thinking of a plan B.

Dena I finished reading Xceptance on Monday. I must say your books really make a person think about some of the struggles one has had in life and how they overcome those struggles. Your character Augie had to be in the hands of God from day one. For a young girl to be out on her own at a young age and over come her obstacles that was nothing but God. She always seemed to keep a level head despite of everything going on in her life. I feel her family missed out on a wonderful relationship with Augie. She sounds like a very determined young lady. And if the sisters and mother would have opened their eyes, and heart , maybe she could have been a positive influence in their lives. But you know what that's their lost. I can't wait for the third book. Keep up the good work.
