“Good dreams wake me up with precise words.
Pomegranate seeds
on my lover’s torso.
Religion versed naked”
shares Josefina Báez’s “Comrade, Bliss ain’t playing”, a performance theatre text, a performance poetry of an urban devotee; a Dominican-York devotee. The work is an intimate journey dressed up with a beautiful vulnerability, taking us
to meet her one and only real love, passing thru contradictions, blessings and leaving us at the beginning of sound. She does not shy away from her opinions on current issues, making her altar accessible and her spiritual practice a concrete
dialogue.
Josefina Báez is a gifted writer and performer. Her acclaimed book and performance, Dominicanish, has been hailed as a vital document part of our contemporary and post-modern literature.
