Five
The Use of Emptiness

The earth and heavens are not kindly;
They treat all creatures like straw dogs.
Nor is the holy man a kind man;
He treats the people like straw dogs.

The space of earth and heaven seems
Much like a bellows. It is empty,
And yet it's inexhaustible;
The more it works, the more comes out.

By many words a man exhausts himself
Before his time. Best keep the center.
