A Unique Love Story
Dead Perfect is an outstanding novel! It begins with a personal touch. The characters introduce themselves as if they are speaking directly to me. It seemed as if Mel and I became friends from the start. The way the author brought the characters to life made it easier to be free in the book. Every setting was detailed and descriptive. It was unique how the novel was set up from a first person angle of both Mel and Davis. I mean, each one of them told their own story. It was easy to follow the two as they set the foundation for how they fell in love. They had things in common that led up to the peak of the story. Mel and her mom were in a car accident. Her mom dies in the beginning of the story. She didn't have a close relationship with her so she didn't have feelings toward the death. Davis was in a bad car accident also. Sharing similarities throughout the story, both of the two characters experience tragic moments. Mel and Davis end up losing their friends and love ones and they become lost in life. The two come in contact with each other and it becomes love at first sight.
As the novel progressed, Mel began to tell how she felt about Davis. This was when the novel became romantic. It was very touching when Davis described his feelings for Mel. Two complete strangers fall in love with each other and neither one of them understand why the feelings are so strong. The author uses different scenes to express Davis' passion. For instance, he loved his friends and family, he was in love with his race car. Davis had that same passion for the race itself. He became confused. He had a lust for his friend's girl. The two characters searched for love and found it from each other. Mel desired to be loved and Davis desired to love. The two came together and the novel became heart- warming. I was under the impression that the novel was about to end and they were going to live happily ever after.
There was a twist in the story that made the book more interesting. It seem like things were falling apart for Davis and Mel. Davis was being secretive and Mel couldn't understand what was going on with him. Just like any other relationship, she was under the impression that he was cheating on her. As the story progresses, things were about to be revealed at this point in the book. That's when the author went another way. Davis began to reveal to Mel the truth.
This is such a beautiful story and I'm glad that I chose to pick it up
Dead Perfect is a story about love, forgiveness, and the ability to let go of the past and move on to the future. For Mel, Davis, Donna, Joanie, and Franky, this story began with a car accident, though at different points in time. What happens after this terrible event is heartbreak, guilt, anger, love and ultimately, forgiveness.
I was a little confused in the first half of the book, but that quickly changed when the truth was revealed in the second half. Dead Perfect is emotionally charged and the story just pulls you in. I know that when a book makes me feel something so emotionally strong, like Dead Perfect did, that it is a must read. I was left misty-eyed at the end, and that's a little embarrassing when you're in a library computer lab where everyone can see you crying, LOL! But this is such a beautiful story and I'm glad that I chose to pick it up.

P.G. has been gifted with such a delightful writing style. She has crafted a well written young adult novel full of heartache, romance and the paranormal! Dead Perfect has such a wonderful balance of all of these things and is definitely one of the most unique stories I have read.
The story is told in such an interesting way, where it switches back and forth from the main characters viewpoints. I really enjoyed this style of writing. It kept things interesting as well as progressing quickly.
I was hooked from the first chapter.
Oh the romance! Mel and Davis are the perfect match and from the moment you find out they both love Rocky Road, you are cheering for them. Their relationship is intense and passionate.
P.G. has done such an amazing job creating her characters. Mel is a lovely young girl who has faced so many demons in her short life. You really connect with her character through out the story and your heart goes out for her.
Davis too has quite the interesting past and more than a few secrets. P.G. does a great job of pacing the story so you keep guessing until the very end.
This book is about so much more than Davis and Mel's need for each other. It is also about redemption, grief and finding your way.
The ending of this book was my favorite part! The twists and turns in the plot are fantastic. I was left with tears in my eyes after the last page.
It is so wonderful when a book can take you to so many different places and allows you to experience a range of emotion. This book definitely did that for me!
If you are a sucker for romance and a great paranormal slice of life story I highly suggest picking up Dead Perfect!
