A simple guide to a complex issue.

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE COMPLEX

THAN LIVING IN OUR MODERN WORLD

In today’s world it is both normal and expected to be confronted with difficult and complex challenges, some of which can cause us to loose our way or even our hope.

Life at a Glimpse is a simple yet effective guide which seeks to help us to better understand and cope with some of these challenges.

Little attempt is made in this book to re-invent the wheel or to create a new thesis on these issues. The primary objective is to help us to use the combined wisdom and experience of others and ourselves in determining the best way forward.

With witty phrases, historical examples and personal experiences this book is ideal for those seeking solutions to these challenges.

As time and money contracts into smaller and smaller capsules you will find this book to be simple, yet remarkably refreshing.

Excerpt

Taking such a step can be exciting, intriguing and lets not forget just plain stupid. There are numerous reasons why being inside the box is safe, predictable, conventional, dependable. To venture into the unknown is like walking backwards while going forward.

Perhaps the uncertainty lies more with where we are, as oppose to where we set out to be. I watched a movie a little while ago and by the way I love movies, the story, the cameras, the crew, all these people sharing ideas and coming together to make the show.

I remember one of the actors was explaining to a group that to move from one location to another in a (3) three dimensional space you need (7) seven grid points. (6) Six points to locate the destination and the seventh is the point of origin.

How many of us plot our life’s path without having a clear understanding of where we are and who we are in the scheme of things. Of course we all argue that we know ourselves, our limitations, our circumstances………so if that’s the case why are we still inside the box?

Is it common sense or are we fearful of the consequences of stepping outside the box, especially when we are still uncertain of who we are and why we are here.

Perhaps we might alleviate some of our fear if we accept and believe as the many religions across the globe, that the human being is born in likeness of the Creator of all things, and hence, it stands to reason that our capacity to do the impossible is far more real than we might otherwise permit.

If you don’t have such religious ideals and choose to view the issue from an evolutionary perspective then we might still come to an agreement that the human being has limitless developmental potential.

Therefore, if we allow this notion of doing impossible things to consume us, we might just begin a powerful transformation of self empowerment.

Whilst reading a philosophical book a few years back, there was a section which spoke about subliminal programming. It described how hidden messages were placed within TV commercial slides and were not readily detected by the viewer but rather this message was been imprinted in their subconscious. At first I was not very convinced of its effect or success but I decided to put the concept to the test.

So, I asked a friend to repeat a certain phrase in his sound system and to record it on a CD disc, which I then loaded into my player. My sound system was set to come on as I fell asleep and to play out the entire CD. The first time I did it, I woke up with a headache.
A bit more angry and the CD might have flown through my window like a frisbee but I decided to chance it again, this time with the playback volume a lot lower so that I could barely hear it.

I can’t say exactly what this experiment achieved because there is no tangible measurement of its effect but since I didn’t get a headache the second time, I figured what the heck.

As I continued listening to this rendition, I decided to try whispering the same phrase to my children when they were sleeping. Some of the times there was no response and other times they told me “Daddy stop blowing into my ear”.

Nevertheless I have grown to adore the phrase and often share it with anyone I might have a conversation with, in hopes that it may have some positive effect on them. This phrase reinforces the notion of the infinite potential of the human spirit.

“ there is no limit to what you can achieve,
other than the limit you set for yourself “

It may not be all that incredible but it has helped me to overcome my doubts, the negative remarks, and those crabs in the box whose ultimate desire is to keep me from becoming all I can be. Have you ever noticed how quick they are to remind you of what you can’t do and seldom what you can.

By accepting that you can achieve anything you put your mind to, is the first step. From there you can analyze your educational, financial and emotional status.
