CHAPTER ONE
Shit. Shit. Shit. And damn it all to Hell.
Of all the times, it would happen now. A knowing teased at the back of her mind. It was a sensation similar to déjà vu, but many degrees stronger. It drove her to distraction and she knew from experience it would bother her until she relented. Slipping her hand under her collar she rubbed her neck and shoulder, lingering on the scar she’d carried there all her life. The little self-massage was a habit that helped her fall into the pattern of wait-receive-release.
