One of the biggest struggles I see in a lot of believers' lives is dying to self. They spend their entire walk with God trying to do enough so they can be counted as dead. It means a whole lot of hardship and pain mostly in front of others so they too know how much these believers are dying for Christ. What ends up happening is it becomes a competition and the only one getting glorified is the devil. We spend so much time dying that we aren’t living in the abundant life Jesus set before us. I’m not even talking about prosperity, I’m talking about living knowing that our heavenly Father will come and deliver us whenever trials come our way. He will come at the right time, on time, each and every time. That is hope and faith put together. We can know this because He loves us. Why should we spend so much time dying when Jesus already did it for us? Our continual episodes of dying mean nothing because we are already dead! It is time to wrap our minds and spirits around the Word of God and know without doubt that we are dead. We can choose to live in that knowledge or we can choose to keep on making a spectacle of ourselves. Every morning when you wake up tell yourself that you are dead to this world of sin and are alive in Christ. Tell yourself: "There is nothing I can do to make myself cleaner today for the Blood of Christ cries out clean, clean, clean! I am the redeemed of the Lord and God says so." Hebrews 10:12-23 talks about Christ’s finished work on the cross. One sacrifice was all it took for us to be saved. Now, because of it, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God waiting for His enemies to be made His footstool. Satan is defeated and we have overcome because of Jesus. It says that those who are being sanctified are already made perfect. According to the original Greek it would read like this: ‘For by one sacrifice He has finished and made complete those who are being purified and consecrated.’ It doesn’t say that those who are already holy are made perfect! It says those who are ‘being’ or ‘becoming’ that way. He changes us from glory to glory. We are already made whole in the eyes of God because of Christ’s sacrifice.
