Shanty like I told
Crystal, the Bullocks will be over tomorrow to discuss it
with my parents and me. I’m so excited!”
“I hope this gift will add a
little more to it”.
Jessie and Shanty turned towards Russell’s voice, to
find him standing behind them, holding out his gift to
Jessie. Shanty looked at them both before walking
away. Looking at the small gift in Russell’s hand, Jessie
looked up into his eyes. He bent over and whispered in
her ear.
“You don’t have to
open it now.” Jessie looked into his eyes and thanked
him for her gift.
“Does this mean
you’re placing college on hold Jessie?”
“Are you kidding?
No I will start College this fall, it will give me time to
see the old Y go under construction, and I should have
finalized the prints by then as well. Of course I have to
know more about what the Bullocks has planned for it
too, they will be the main owners, I’ll be co-owner,
which allows me time to get more of the plans
completed. I want this project to be nothing less than
perfect for the kids.”
“I’m pleased you
won’t let this get in the way of your studies.” I like the
way you maintain your focus, it will carry you a long
way, but keep in mind this is not going to be an easy
effort, you’ll need grants and loans to pull off the
projects you want to start, not to mention hired help.
You must keep this thought at forefront too.”
“I really thank
you for your input, and hope if I need legal counsel
you’ll be there for me to call.” Jessie spoke, with a
sincere smile. Russell looked at her, taking in her baby
face features. He could see the maturity in her eyes, and
had no doubt she would finalize her dreams.
For the first time, he confessed to himself, that he’s
looking at a young woman who has penetrated his heart.
He was deeply affected by the thought and quickly
changed the subject, afraid it would show through.
“I promised your
dad I would make a few jazz cd’s and drop them off
later, so we’ll talk again, and you can let me know the
out come after your conversation with the Bullocks.”
“Sure, okay.” Jessie
replied, as Russell turned to leave. Jessie watched him
enter the back door of the house before she turned to
join the crew. Immediately she noticed..
