The Great Sphinx Of Amun-Ra is a timeless story.  One of the primary characters is the ancient god of creation, Amun-Ra.  In his story, as told by the ancient people, he acted alone in the making the world;  first setting the land and the water in place, and then creating a tree.  It is from this tree that his Great Staff was made, which he passed on to the world of men who were created at some point after the tree.

Despite the life on land and in the water, the ancient land of Egypt, called Kmet by the great god, was a desert.  As improbable as it may seem, the new creation set about making a life for themselves in this barren and forbidding landscape.  Their only hope for survival was the great river, The NIle, which flowed down from the south and came at last into the land where its water could spread out and provide just enough moisture so that crops could develop and be cultivated by tribes who settled in homes on the warm sand just beyond the influence of the water.  All the good land was left for green and growing things in order to sustain life.  That was thousands of years ago, but the situation is nearly the same today, despite the introduction of farming vehicles and modern agricultural methods in other parts of the world. 

The novel presents a chronological look at Egypt, taking centuries and even millenia at a single step, always moving forward through time, always looking at what could be, but was not, due to human frailty - or the interference of the great god.

Come and follow Gan and his companions as they start the journey, exploring and finding hope in what would otherwise have ended with none, and experience the construction of the Great Sphinx of Amun-Ra as Pan and the villagers of Karnua take on the task to honor the great god, and accomplish so much more in their efforts than they ever would  have believed they could.
