The Storybook Project is a grassroots literacy program that serves both male (Grimes Unit) and female (McPherson Unit) inmates incarcerated in the Newport State Correctional Facility in Newport, Arkansas. Three years ago, the program expanded to the North Central Correctional Facility in Calico Rock, Arkansas which houses only men.
Each facility has separate leaders and volunteers because of their geographic locations.
