Distraught over a traumatic event at the farm, Bill Bentley rides into Escondido, California on a bounty track. He takes on a young cowhand as a sidekick to assist him on his hunt. At the Perez cattle ranch Bill meets the lovely Johnny, granddaughter of the ranch owner. Smitten with Bill, Johnny goes out of her way to arrange an unannounced visit to Bill’s homestead.
Cattle rustling, a horse poisoning and gala festivities at the big ranch house converge on Bill as he tries to corner and trap his elusive quarry. Tricking the con artist to make him think he’s part of a train robbery, Bill and the kid do a double spin and take on a grueling desert trek with their captive. An unexpected murder on the homestead has a distraught Johnny holding down the home front with two babies. Bill’s revengeful ex partner shows up bent on claiming ownership on what he rightfully believes is his son.
Ambushes, shootouts, saloon brawls and drunken jail time shake the small western towns, as Bill chases after his ex partner.

After reading this third book in the series I am convinced this writer, G.M. Freeman, is certainly going places, and I mean BIG places!
