The Remains of Hurricane Katrina
I was more inspired by Sandra Speer's book, THE REMAINS OF HURRICANE KATRINA, than I have been by any book I have ever read. Part of the story is about a little girl who lived in beautiful New Orleans. I felt the emotions of the little girl as she grew up in a background of beauty but in her own world of rape and unhappiness. The book is so well written that I wished that the little girl could have been my very own child. I wanted to ease her suffering.
I felt the emotions of the woman telling the story of the little girl and telling her own story. I laughed and cried as she told about losing her home and belongings to Hurricane Katrina and her frightening evacuation to Florida with her older mother, her child and two dogs. Her very sad story was relieved by artful twists of humor. As the author was able to laugh at herself, I was able to laugh with her. Pulling the pieces of her new life together even included trying to locate her true love on the internet.
This book has everything,a deep plot, humor and, above all, inpiration and hope.
