He ultimately realizes the imtortance of paying more attention once he's faced with losing Ned, his cat. Hard Head Fred is a great book to read aloud for storytime or at bedtime.

Meet seven year old Fred. Fred has a hard, hard head.
Mom tells Fred, “No drinking water before going to bed.”
But Fred doesn’t listen, and all through the night he sneaks
to the kitchen.
Fred is sad. Mom is helping him to be better, and now his bed won’t get any
wetter. Will Fred listen when Mom says, “keep your tushy out the kitchen!”?
It was Fred’s birthday and he could not wait, he asked Mom to buy him
skates.
Mom was happy, she said ok. They went out to buy the skates.
Fred was happy too.
Hard Head Fred Sounds like the slogan for all us black men, but I admire you having a young black male as your main character to teach good morales and life lessons. I can remember my hard head days and my behind getting tow down. Dang I can still feel the switch blasting my azz. Lol! Anyways I wish you great success with your series and keep doing it blacker and better sista!
