This book encourages true and lasting friendships, along with a bit of science to whet the reader’s curiosity about botany. All of my books first help to solve worries that are normal, but critical for a kid, and then, add some important “science stuff” to promote interest in exploring and learning.
“The Power of a Flower” is actually the prequel to my other award-winning books and it's received a prestigious GOLD seal of excellence award in family friendly media from Mom's Choice Awards.
The story in this book is simply a story within a story told by "Grandma Annie" to Samantha, Grandma's granddaughter, when Samantha worries that her sweet flowering plant has begun to wilt and lose its petals and leaves.
What to do? Samantha is distraught. Well, it's Grandma Annie comes to the rescue and our story move to a long ago story that Grandma tells Samantha and that offers much more than just a lesson in flowers and science.
Rather, Samantha learns a wonderful lesson about love, the circle of life and enduring friendships that offer immense help during times of loss.

“Grandma please tell me a story I won't be able to go to sleep until you do.”
“Now, Samantha it is easy to get to sleep. I think that you just want to hear a story.”
“Well grandma I'm sorry to press you about it but I'm worried about something and I keep thinking about it even when I try to go to sleep. So that's why I need to ask you for a story.”
“Oh I see. You usually go to sleep easily but today you have a worry that's on your mind and you think that I can help with the story.”
“Yes, that’s it, Grandma.”
Samantha was now sitting up in bed and Grandma Annie was sitting close by in a rocking chair.
" Well now that I know you have a worry, can you tell me more about it?”
“Of course and please don't think it's silly.”
“Why, of course I won’t think that. Worries are never silly, and everyone has worries from time to time; even grown-ups,” exclaimed Grandma taking a sip of tea.
“What's important is to figure out how to solve your worry and that way you can get over it and you can move on. So now let's hear about your worry and I'm sure I will have a story to help you solve it too.”
