Something Fishy is a tale of a humorous romp through an eventful weekend, when five men go on a sea fishing trip to the west coast of Ireland.

A dark comedy, 'Something Fishy' tells the story of five middle-aged Liverpool men who become kids again, when they embark on a weekend sea fishing trip to the west coast of Ireland. They catch plenty of fish, and there are plots and counter plots during the trip. Two of them lose their false teeth; but, one of them gets his back again.

Of the five, only four go fishing the fifth man is otherwise engaged with Big Mary. The events that occur on the fishing trip create tensions between their different personalities. They catch plenty of fish, but the strong bonds of friendship are tested and there are winners and losers. One of the men doesn't make it to Ireland, he bites off more than he can chew, with life changing consequences for him.

‘Aha!’ He pointed a finger at Blinky’s head, ‘You’ve had your hair cut, haven’t you,’ he snapped, accusingly.

Blinky’s hand automatically went up to his head; he brushed back his new short back and sides, as he replied
‘Yes, I’ve had my haircut Mr Walsh.’

The little pig farmer took a deep breath and held it for a couple of seconds. A throbbing vein stood out in his neck, his eyes widened, then the dam burst. ‘How dare you go for a haircut in my time, while you are supposed to be here working for me,’ he screamed.

Flinching under the sheer force of the verbal onslaught, Blinky’s eyelids flickered, nervously. Then, with the strange, unassailable, logic of a nineteen year old who'd only received a rudimentary education, he answered sullenly, ‘Well it grew in your time Mr Walsh. It grew while I’ve been working for you.’

On hearing this, Dermot became apoplectic, he shouted, ‘Oh, very clever, very clever indeed Mr Boylan.’ The strange logic of Blinky’s answer had thrown Dermot off balance for a moment, and he had to pause for a moment, while he thought of an answer: before he responded. ‘Well, it didn’t all grow in my time, while you’ve been working here for me, did it?’ his voice sounded triumphant.

Blinky thought again; and, as before, with the same odd logic, he replied ‘Well, I didn’t have it all cut off, did I Mr Walsh?’
