Chapter One
Five months later…
Today was going to be another scorcher. Already, Ryan Henderson could feel the sun beating against his neck as he headed back home on his early morning jog. Soon it would burn through the fog that hung about the rocky shore obscuring large portions of the beach. Ryan glanced out at the water. A brisk wind was blowing in from the Bay, sweeping the last stubborn shreds of mist along with it as it moved inland. The sky above the waves was bare now, scrubbed clean of clouds, dry as an old bone. Sunlight glinted off the surface of the Pacific. A flock of gulls wheeled excitedly in the air. Immature gulls for the most part, he thought, stopping to notice how their feathers flashed copper and bronze against the blue.
Six months ago he wouldn’t have known the difference between a gull and a tern. Or between a grebe and a scoter, for that matter. Never mind being able to determine anything so specific as their age.
He’d learned a lot about life in the last six months--and not just marine life, either. He’d learned about patience and pain. About love and loss. And more than he’d ever wanted to know about loneliness.
He was just about to resume jogging when the dog at his side stiffened suddenly and uttered a short, harsh bark.
"Quiet, Mars," he said, frowning at the battle scarred chocolate lab-Rottwieler mix. He still had a hard time thinking of Mars as his. His dog was beautiful and sleek, with a long, gorgeous, red coat, and the strangest, ululating bark he’d ever heard. But his dog was his no longer, and--
He half turned as the sound reached his ears, hardly able to believe his eyes as the Irish Setter materialized from out of the mist and came bounding through the sand.
Mars growled a warning and started forward, but Ryan halted him with another sharp command. As Mars settled reluctantly to the ground, Ryan was briefly grateful for the training the dog had received; he would not move again until ordered to.
He doubted the same would ever be said of the dog barreling towards him. As far as he knew, she’d never even learned to heel properly. He sank quickly to one knee as, with a flurry of motion the creature hurled itself upon him.
"Hey, there, girl. How’ve you been, huh?" Ryan greeted his former puppy with a hug. What name had Siobhan given her, he wondered. He noted the new green leather collar the dog wore, and resisted the urge to check and see if any of the clanking metal disks upon it held the information he sought.
The soft sand muffled the sound of the footsteps that followed in the dog’s wake, but Ryan had been listening for them. He counted to ten as they approached, waiting to speak, hoping that the pounding of his heart would not be too apparent in his voice.
But the owner of the footsteps forestalled him by speaking first. "Well, hey, she certainly seems happy to see you, huh?" an all too familiar voice said. Neither the question nor the cool edge of humor was what he’d expected. "I hope she isn’t bothering you?"
"Uh, no." Ryan rose slowly to his feet, the dog almost forgotten. "No, of course she’s not." Surprise might have rendered his body practically immobile, but nothing could prevent his gaze from roaming greedily over the face and figure of the woman he’d fallen in love with last winter.

Now Tommy finds delight in being a con man. He keeps track of Sinead and blackmails her for money. She should have known that he'd be watching her family in Oberon, California, waiting for her to show up.
Adam Sasso has finally gotten control of the family land and business. It took a lot of time and money ... and some sneakiness ... considering how determined his cruel grandfather had been to make sure Adam never inherited it. But Adam is finally where he belongs and with his rightful inheritance. Now Adam is ready to find his soul mate. Using his magic, he begins his summoning. When Sinead shows up, he is ready for her. But Sinead is NOT ready for him.
***** An excellent addition to the Oberon series! This one has lots of tension and suspense. I could not help but wish for more magic, but everything is extremely well done. The author lets readers see glimpses of the relationships involving those close to Sinead's heart (such as her sisters), but not too much that would ruin the stories of the others. Recommended reading! *****

Adam Sasso has troubles within his own family as he uses his wits, money and determination to finally take control of what is his by rights. The family land and business. His grandfather did everything in his power to try and prevent him from succeeding, but, fortunately for Adam, he failed. Now, there is just one more thing that Adam needs; and that is a soul mate. A woman that he can settle down with for the rest of his life. So, he uses his powers of magic and seduction to find that love. But, will he win Sinead's heart? Or, will he have to admit defeat?
