Marita is enthralled when a handsome Canadian soldier pays attention to her and is soon swept off her feet by his charismatic ways. However, her dour, strait-laced parents do not approve of him and she marries without their blessing. That is only a small part of her troubles. A war is going on  and England is very much involved, but for some reason that she can't figure out, Randal returns to Canada. She is able to join him there, but is fearful.
