Chapter 2
Magnanotron – The Science
In Maryland, at the U.S. Army Futures Laboratory, Devcom, a group of scientists led by Peter S. Androvski were working on a new, top-secret project. Androvski – an MIT graduate and brilliant scientist – was reviewing the latest results of the “Magnanotron” project with his staff. Magnanotron was initially developed to protect computer systems and servers, but now, in the ever-changing world of nanotechnology and other scientific knowledge, it had been taken to new, breathtaking levels. The scientists at Devcom were a tight-knit, loyal and dedicated group.
They stood silent as Androvski stood, pointing to the large display screen.
“It has taken years of hard work,” he said, full of excitement, “but now I believe we finally have it in our grasp! By using all the technology available from the base project, and discovering many new things along the way, it has finally happened. It is still hard to believe that the final piece of the puzzle has come down to the basic theory of magnetics.”
Another picture appeared, showing a light-blue-colored, luminescent circle. “Our grounding problem is no more; the pulse width modulation is sequential,” Androvski added. “With the help of fellow scientist Darious Patel, we’ve added a special, rare chemical additive, combined with precise electro-nano technology. The Magnanotron sequence is finally in order! It maintains maximum flux density and ultra-magnified electron flow.”
Androvski sipped his water, full of excitement, and continued: “Now we have it! The positively-charged atoms are repulsing and, as you can see, the negative ones are retro-acting. The end result has created a chain reaction – a high-intensity, continuous-flowing pulse modulation.
“I believe we have landed upon an electro-magnetic forcefield. And, if enough initial energy is applied, one that should be self-sustaining and virtually impenetrable!”
The room erupted in cheers and handshakes went around.
Androvski continued as he walked around the large glass table: “Everyone must understand the importance of this phenomenon. This discovery must stay within these walls; not a word to anyone!”
With that said, security services joined the group, and the meeting went on for hours. Everyone, with the exception of Androvski and Patel, had to hand over all paperwork and files that were involved with the Magnanotron project. Every computer, with the exception of Androvski’s desktop and laptop, was scrubbed clean after the meeting was adjourned.
Afterward, Androvski headed for his office and his secure line. He had some important calls to make.
A few days later, at the Pentagon, U.S. Army General and Commander of Special Forces Ryan A. Thompson entered one of the meeting rooms, and walked toward a large wooden table.
Devcom Science Specialist Peter Androvski and his assistant, the well-known scientist Darious Patel, were excited. Androvski got up with a smile and came over.
“Welcome, sir. Thanks for meeting with us. Please have a seat; we have some important news for you.”
Ryan smiled as he shook Androvski’s hand. “From our last conversation, it seems that you and your team have come up with something very interesting.”
“Yes, sir, we do have something exciting,” Androvski replied, as he moved to a large display screen and brought up a picture of the Magnanotron circle. “These are the results of our promising new project.”
Androvski pointed to the screen. “We have found a way to flow the electro-magnetic atoms we have created, with the use of micro-magnetics and advanced nanotron technology. The result is a super-intense modulation; a circular pulse-flow. Once the device is charged, the loop is self-sustaining, sir.”
Commander Ryan smiled. “It seems you’re very excited about this, but you lost me with the ‘nano’ thing. I need you to give me the scoop on this stuff in layman’s terms.”
Androvski smiled. “I’m sorry, sir. I get carried away by the science of it. What we have here is a self-sustaining, high-energy forcefield.”
Ryan hesitated for a moment as the words sunk in. “A forcefield? Like a… shield thing, or what?”
Ryan looked at some of the familiar faces. “My god. This sounds like Star Trek or something.”
With that said, laughs broke out around the table. “Beam me up, Scotty!” Androvski added, and the laughter continued.
When Ryan stopped laughing, Androvski continued: “Thanks for the compliment, sir. We believe that, once the device is at full operational intensity, the Magnanotron shield will be virtually impenetrable. We would like to give a demonstration, sir.”
Commander Ryan looked at his associates, smiling, then stood up, full of excitement himself. “Yes, indeed we need to see your demonstration as soon as possible!”
He paused, looking at the display screen, then at Androvski. “Please, let me know if you need anything from me when getting things ready. I have some people that will be very interested in this one, for sure.”
“Thank you, sir,” Androvski replied. “Just to let you know, we are being very cautious with our information, and Army security services are closely involved, sir. I will let you know when we have the Magnanotron demonstration ready.”
After the meeting, Ryan went back to his office and called his old friend, Joint Chief of Staff General Mark Stanis, and told him to keep his schedule open; Ryan had something very important for him to see.

Some things never change. Russia – and now China – were always watching, waiting, for ways to steal the latest cutting-edge technology from America…
Inside Devcom, there was a middle-aged man walking the hallways. Gregory Wallis was the new night-shift janitor. But, truth be known, he was also a long-time Russian SRV spy.
For the last week, usually during the last hours of his shift, he had noticed increased activity, lots of hustle and bustle in the science lab area. He made a mental note to keep an eye out for a chance to get into the lab, and to report the recent activity to his contact.

“Robert J. Saniscalchi’s Andromidus is a military-tech thriller with its sights set on a future where artificial intelligence, battlefield innovation, espionage, and global power are tightly connected. The story builds on the Magnanotron technology of the earlier Bond of Brothers books, but the arrival of Andromidus gives this installment its own identity. Peter Androvski’s breakthrough is an AI system capable of learning, reasoning, recognizing people, protecting computer networks, and eventually helping direct sophisticated military technology. Saniscalchi pairs that scientific storyline with Special Forces operations, intelligence work, international maneuvering, and the increasingly dangerous determination of Chinese operatives to obtain America’s most closely guarded technology. The result feels less like a single mission and more like a widening conflict in which every new invention changes the stakes.
One of the book’s strengths is the way Saniscalchi moves between the big machinery of the thriller and the everyday lives of the people operating it. Delta Team’s joking, meals, family conversations, friendships, romances, Christmas gatherings, illnesses, and thoughts about retirement give the military action a personal context. That matters because this is very much a story about loyalty. Tex Larson reminds a newer member of Delta that the team is “all in it together,” relying on and protecting one another, and that idea runs through the larger cast as well. Scientists, soldiers, intelligence officers, political leaders, and families form different versions of the bond promised in the series title. Saniscalchi clearly enjoys spending time with these characters, and that familiarity gives the novel an easygoing warmth in between firefights, briefings, experiments, and emergencies.
The technology becomes especially engaging once Andromidus stops feeling like an experiment and begins affecting events on its own. Its confrontation with China’s Toknowa system turns cyberwarfare into a genuine contest between artificial intelligences, with Andromidus detecting the intrusion, defending X-Star’s systems, and locking its opponent out. From there, the novel gathers momentum around the theft of classified Magnanotron and Andromidus data and Wilu Phoyong’s attempt to escape America with it. The final pursuit brings together nearly everything the book has been developing: intelligence gathering, AI, satellites, aircraft, Magnanotron propulsion, the Patelaton missiles, and President Jameson’s long-running fear that the technology he’s responsible for protecting could fall into hostile hands. It all started when someone had carelessly thrown away his reminder of a recent event. There were just three words. But they were important key words: Magnanotron, Androvsky and testing. Reading the crumbled note, taken from the garbage, gave the spy all that he needed--that together with the obvious excitement that had been going on around him... He immediately reported...
Americans should know by now that the world has spies--everywhere. After all, we, too, have them... The only main difference I see is that America works to prevent harm insofar as possible. Other countries, those run by dictators, care about only one thing. Power and Winning. And, now, one of the world's foremost dictators had been keyed in on one of the most important military weapons that had ever been achieved! The dictator wanted it! And all the action is set in America...
It was 2010 when I first met Robert and read Bullets and Bandages. He was telling a story told to him by his brother... I don't think I will ever forget the fact that Robert was the one to write this first story, which set off a career in military fiction writing that continues, this time, with a fascinating thriller that I couldn't help but think, while reading, Oh, if it were only true... You see, two scientists have been working on a top-secret level under a military contract and have achieved a major breakthrough. Testing had begun, first on a dummy, then a small animal, and, finally, on a human. Each level of testing was reviewed at the highest level--the President of the United States and he was making the final decision, based upon viewing what happened at each level of testing.
When it reached the final level of testing, of course, it was important that those who would be actually using the MagNanoTron would be those who did the testing. Special Forces DeltaTeam was the obvious choice. Readers quickly enjoy meeting each member of the team, while participating in the camaraderie during who will be...first... At the same time, this reader took special note that during all that was happening, there was a lot of prayer happening by various characters... This was an important addition for me... It helps to personalize that these are real people participating in something that could be very dangerous, yet, willing to do so because of what the result could be... Our Nation's Freedom.
Of course it was the scenes between the spy team members and the special forces that turns the book into a thriller... Especially when one of the scientist is kidnapped! Everybody knows that this one individual could recreate the MagNanoTron for that dictator's country! That was to be prevented! At All Costs!
Because of the MagNanoTron and its potential use, I have not shared much about what is actually happening. You have to read it to believe it... And, again, I say, wouldn't it be wonderful if it was really possible?!
If you read military fiction, I'd call this a must-read. Thriller readers of all types will also be excited and, perhaps, exhilarated, as I was when the Special Forces Delta Team takes on the kidnappers! Do Check it Out!
