Team Alpha rocks
I like a good zombie romp and this book has action in spades. As another reviewer commented, the zombie fighting is a bit slower in the second half of the story but it serves as a nice setup to the following book. The "Suicide Squad" flavor of their frantic early missions make up for any lag in my opinion, and the authors take the time to develop the characters more than is usually seen, with the exception of Ali. I hope we find out more about her story in the second book, since she is one of my favorite characters despite her air of mystery.
Excellent series
The detail and plausibility of the whole Zombie scenario laid out in this series is definitely a cut above the majority of Zombie books. The Characters are nicely varied and there seems to be a lot more substance in this more cosmopolitan take on the genre. Within two pages I could tell this book was written by British Authors so some might find the style of writing a little different from the American. Personally I love the UK style. For those wondering about sequels, the books seem to get better from here. I'm so glad to have found another source of genuinely good writing I just wish the authors would hurry up and put out the next book in the series.
Amazingly well-written action thriller
This is an astonishingly well-researched and highly plausible novel about a viral infection causing a global "Zombie Apocalypse". The writing is quite good and engaging - full of action scenes that had me frantically reaching out for the "Next Page" button on my Kindle. The level of realism in this novel is what really sets it apart - the authors just seem to get everything right down to the finest details. I can't wait for the next installment!
From your Amazon stats, your work is very impressive. There is a certain appeal to blowing away zombies that has attracted me to the various TV series like The Walking Dead, Z Nation and Fear the Walking Dead, all based on comic books, I believe. So you have a built-in fan base that is gobbling up your writing. From your reviews, I would say that you have developed some great characters and action that everyone's adrenaline flowing.
I haven't read your books, but I find the endless lack of progress in the series on TV to be more a way of keeping everyone watching than any redeeming value of humankind ever overcoming our weaknesses. From what little I have read of yours, it appears you are writing purely from a military viewpoint that is not shared by the rest of humanity. Except, in this case, it appears that only a military lifestyle can withstand the onslaught of zombies.
Finally, I think your genre is more likely action thriller rather than science fiction. I know that zombies got started because alcohol and lead poisoning often put people in their grave when they were comatose. Only to have them wake up and become violent because they found themselves trapped by people who didn't know they weren't dead.
While viruses like Ebola and the Black Plague are deadly and very infectious--scientific. The idea of zombies roaming and attacking en masse is purely fantasy and has no science backing it up at all.
