Excerpt
As Dannie walked around her car and approached the driver’s side, their neighbor’s puppy raced over to her. Not quite a year old, every time the puppy saw Dannie come out, he would run over to receive some attention.
As the evening sun was setting, this evening seemed no different from any other day. The puppy ran over as Dannie walked down the drive to go around her car.
Then a fissure opened up in front of her. It looked like a tear in the seam of a dress, but then widened to where it stretched about three feet wide in the middle, reached nearly twelve feet into the air, while the bottom was four feet underground.
Peering in, it appeared white as though on a gloomy fall or winter day. Dannie, walking briskly, stepped right into the fissure before she could stop herself. The last thing she saw was the puppy just two feet from her.
“Is this a porthole to another dimension?” she asked herself. Dannie had crossed to a barren landscape with a yellow tint to it. Even the light appeared tainted. She could see nothing except for a single building barely visible in the haze. There was the smell of rotting eggs in the air as she approached the building and the feeling of death all around her.
