It's hard for me to say this
while I'm sitting under weight
of my demons and their voices
all the inklings of my fate.
Just like holes inside a rainbow
bleeding out a fading spell
I can hear the distant chatter
of a pain I know too well.
It's hard for me to help you
from this place encased in glass
when panes of ice have numbed me
and today may be my last.
So I'm coming clean, revealing
in the hopes to lose my past
while keeping things appealing
but destroy the wicked cast.
I stop myself from mourning
knowing men, they shouldn't cry
shouldn't scream, shouldn't falter
even though we bleed and die.
So I hug the weeping sky
and the golden meadows dry
then re-animate my feelings
just to ask more questions why.
It's difficult to hear you
through the voices in the halls
they gather to mislead me
and disturb me with their calls.
At night I mostly shudder
eye to eye with ravens glare
I stare at my reflection
at a self that isn't there.
But an overbearing feeling
that comes crashing on the scene
like a flood without a warning
or the dark side of my dream
endarkening; epiphany
a black fluorescent gleam
it's hard for me to love you
when I'm holding back a scream.
