Gritting her teeth, Sonja, hissed out loud, “Ugh!” as she tried to think. Nervous fingers that were somewhat sweaty were twisting her short brown dreadlocks. Her fingers touched her pounding head and she tried to lay down her head in her queen-sized bed that was surrounded by beautiful teddy bears. Unfortunately her cuddly friends could not relieve her stress.
She just couldn’t believe her life. Not only did she have the worst tenants above her, she also hated the company she worked for. And on top of everything, she fell in love with a playa. The moment she saw his baby brown eyes, she was on lockdown and couldn’t breath much less tell him the truth. She had fallen head over heels in love with him. She couldn’t sleep for all the thoughts in her head. Whenever she was in his presence she couldn’t speak with any sort of conviction. She couldn’t get her words together. Whenever he was too close, she could only see him kissing her, feel his lips touch hers, she was in emotional turmoil. She didn’t know what to do. Lorenzo Jones was her friend, but she was in love with him. It was an impossible situation.
Before she could think of anything to relieve her situation, her telephone rang.
“Hello.” She breathlessly said.
“Wake up sleepy head!” A deep timbre voice sang.
Rolling over in her bed, she grabbed a hold of her red and white teddy bear, and responded. “Lorenzo. I was sleeping. You know everyone isn’t like you. We sleep regular hours.” Her eyes glanced at the alarm clock stating that it was six o’clock a.m. “What are you doing up so early?”
“Just was up doing some mixes, boo.”
“So, you are calling to say what?” The attitude in her voice challenged him.
“Change the attitude Sonja. You know you aren’t the evil type.” His smooth voice melted her soul. “Look I just wanted to find out if we are still going to the House Music After Work Set at Chromium. I get out of class at 7 tonight and can meet you down there around 7:30 pm.”
Sonja yawned in the phone, “Ahh! Ahh!” She paused, “Sorry about that. Yeah, I can meet you there around 7:30 pm. You got my cell phone right?”
“Yeah, I do. So, I’ll see you later okay? Have a good day at work or at least try.” The caressing of his voice reminded her that she needed to get up for work.
“Okay, Lorenzo. I’ll try.” She ran her fingers through her dreads and stretched her body as she adjusted the phone against her ear. “Did you call Myron to see if he wanted to go?”
“Naw. He ain’t trying to kick it with us. I guess he’s busy now that he’s married.”
“Well you know how it goes.” She nibbled on her lower lip as she looked at the clock again. “Jeez! I got to go. See you boo.” Seven o’clock stared at her and mocked her at the same time. Lord knows she needed to get to work before 9 am.
“Later, queen!” Listening to him made her daydream and she almost forgot to hang up the phone but heard the dial tone scream at her.
Sliding the phone back into its cradle Sonja swung her thick legs over and rubbed her thighs as she thought of him. Tonight would be the night that she would tell him the truth.
Where's the rest? lol Sounds great. I can definitely relate to the situation. So many complications andd shannigans can be plotted from this situation.
