He quickly realizes that he's able to use the knowledge he gained through the hundreds of books he's read, as well as the time spent in role playing games to help him along. The world he's been brought to is one on the edge of war and only by learning to control the magic within himself will he be able to survive the trials ahead. With the help of a boy named Miko, he sets out across this strange world to discover why he's there and what he must do.

This was a great book. I was completely enthralled by this first book (free) for my nook that I purchased the other six books. I am currently half way through book five, two weeks later, and they keep getting better and better. I already plan on purchasing the Broken Key Series as soon as I finish this series.
I'm the author of The Unsuspecting Mage and would like to say thank you for your interest in my book. I would also like to suggest going to Amazon.com where you could take advantage of their Search Inside feature to better determine if this series is something you would find ejoyable and entertaining.
I wrote it in present tense and for some that takes a bit to get used to. To me, present tense better enables the reader to feel like they are there in the moment with James and the others. The fact that people purchase the later installments shows that they enjoy James' story.
I hope that should you too try The Unsuspecting Mage, that you will find it enjoyable as well.
