That Which Was

From the beginning all was known
Eternal life placed above self
The true light that never ceases
Felt deep within and longs for
THE WORD
But only those born of God
Find victory in overcoming
The world and that which was
Still thrives
Amid thorns of humanity’s
Evil planting for nothing is lost
That can’t be saved so
To this each day is given and a promise
For the faithful that
There is a blessed life awaiting
And one must “be”
Before one “is.”
To Stroll
To stroll along so wistful,
The world surrounds so blissful,
Those tiny wonders
With such cries,
Hard in autumn to say goodbyes.
Such beauty to await
The first kiss of frost,
Chills the heart
For pending loss.
So sighs the day
When hours spent,
In quiet repose
By fleeting comforts sent.
Like all spots in time
To close,
Images to carry
On footsteps grown old.
Into years so weary all beings,
But upon each season
A new beginning.
