While I love to read, I normally pick up a book and lose interest by the time I am approximately 3/4 of the way through it. However, this is the first book I’ve read from cover to cover. It was so gripping I could not put it down. At no time was my attention diverted away from reading this book. When I had to put it down to handle my life’s responsibilities, I was always thinking about it, as it took me on such a roller coaster ride of emotions and anticipation.I couldn’t help envisioning and living vicariously through the many things the author encountered throughout her life. I am anxiously awaiting her next book. Her life is an amazing testimony of tragedy, triumph, love and resilience. I recommend this book to anyone, everyone who is presently, or has ever lived through horrendous challenges. You will be encouraged and compelled to transform your lemons into lemonade; to survive and not just exist.

I’ve known Syd since we were teenagers. Many years later she shared the details about her childhood/young adult experiences. I was staggered to learn about her hardships. The candor and explicit accounts of abuse and trauma she silently endured empowered me to face life head on. How she was able to have lived through, then to recall such painful experiences in a public arena is beyond my comprehension. I am inspired by her bravery alone for writing the book.
