The Midnight Express
Churning with a fiery rage
He walked from the train
A Dark Man from midnight
Death flowed through his eyes
He came for another passenger on the Midnight Express
He speaks no words
He goes right to work
Feelings mean nothing to the Dark Man
And your ticket is your soul
For the ride on the Midnight Express
No Demon from Hell
No Angel from Heaven
Not even God
Or the Devil himself
Would ever dare to ride the Midnight Express
Take my words with caution
For when the midnight tone strikes
Your soul you must hide
Just in case the Dark Man arrives
Offering you a ride on the Midnight Express
This is a collection of Joel Andre's poetry. Usually I don't read poetry, but I bought this book at the same time I bought Joel's novel.
The poems are thought provoking. His subjects range from ravens to vampires. Some discuss dying; other discuss love and loss. A couple talk about "the Darkman". My favorite was "Bitter Honey" - it reached deep in me and pulled at my longings, then reminded me what it's all about. Well done!
In spite of a few spelling errors, the quality was good, the poetry was thought provoking, and I'll be sure to leaf through it again. I look forward to more works from Andre!
