This case examines the story of one man caught in the middle of custody battle that became a landmark surrogacy case involving one child and five adults, including a divorced couple, a paid surrogate, an anonymous sperm donor and an anonymous egg donor.
The controversial topic of Assisted Reproduction Technology is an example of modern biological science being pushed to the ethical limit. This book is being written from the point of view of the father (at least in the eyes of the court) who contested his obligation to pay child support and disavowed the child that had been legally recognized as his daughter.
The secondary aspect of the book involves the intrigue and drama of a drug smuggler's lifestyle, the father's lifestyle for almost two decades. It was an odyssey that took him from small-time dealer to organizing a crew that smuggled tons of marijuana by plane from Mexico into California.
While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
