Just then something stepped out of the shadows of the past. Bump felt his face flush and his skin break out in a cold sweat. There were three distinct images, each more hideous than the last; the knife, the blood, and that smile.
Slowly the missing pieces of The Ron Flury Puzzle began to come together in Bump’s mind. Like a lot of ballplayers, Ron was very superstitious. But that was where the similarities between Ron and other players deviated sharply. Not shaving or wearing the same undershirt was one thing. What Ron did was something else entirely.
