Due to serious lung disease, I had to quit smoking in 1998. These 16 stories are what poured out the first couple of years I fought nicotine cravings. I used writing as a therapeutic tool.
My stories contain true life situations distorted enough to make them fun to read. Life is scary and sometimes impossible to face without a little fantasy thrown in to lighten the harsh reality.
The Trip
Sandra had all but one bag in the car and Jenn had to pee. Sandra threw the bag in the trunk and waited at the front door for Jenn so she could keep an eye on the office door. Sandra knew they saw her, she didn't know how but somehow she'd went back in time and witnessed a murder.
Booker and Todd flew out the office headed straight for Sandra.
“Jenn hurry up they're coming.” Sandra ran to the bathroom and pulled her aunt off the toilet.
Jenn was groggy from medication. “Let me wipe for God's sake.” She protested.
Sandra pulled Jen to the passenger side of the car, pushed her into the seat, shut and locked the door and ran around to the driver's side.
Jenn watched in wide-eyed horror as Sandra raced around the car and just as Booker had his hand ready to snatch her she was in the seat with the door locked.
The two men beat on the windows.
“Give me the key Jenn.” Sandra shouted then realized she'd left it in the trunk and if Booker found it they were dead.
As if reading her mind Booker walked to the back of the car.

SLOW SUICIDE
Kelly opened the pack of cigarettes and with practiced precision; she tapped one of the short cylinder sticks into her hand. With the same meticulousness, she lifted her small hand to her mouth, put the cigarette between her lips and busied herself with the lighting of the match. As the malodorous sulfur reached her little nostrils Kelly was bringing the fiery head of the match to the dangling cigarette. The fire met the dry tobacco and paper, acrid smoke rose past Kelly's nose and into her eyes. With teary eyes, she inhaled the smoke deep into her lungs. After a coughing fit, Kelly felt her body relax, she was now ready to face another day
