Here is a collection of poems and some simple statements and recollections that I felt compelled to share. It is a book that dwells on the beauty of life.
This is a book of poems I have written. Poetry is a beautiful way to describe life. It can be melodic but always full of life.
I began this with friends at a web site called ‘AuthorsDen.com.’ It became a passion. Many of the poems here are posted on my web site. Some I have saved for this book. The name, “Rebirth of the Dogwood” came from a true story. When my wife and I bought our home more than thirty-seven years ago there was a beautiful pink dogwood in the front yard. We thought we lost it a few years ago when it became sickly and stopped giving the wonderful blossoms. I reluctantly cut it down but left the stump. Ann said she would put a flower pot on it and we would have at least that to remember the tree by.
The tree didn’t give up as easily as we thought. Two years later it began to send little trees coming off the root. It is now a bush but it is blossoming. We could turn it into a tree if we wanted to prune but I think I like it in the shape it is in. This gave me reason to wonder at the Majesty of God. Like the Dogwood, we will be reborn one day.

I See the Clouds and Wonder
I lay quietly upon the grass, my hands behind my head.
I gaze up at the beautiful sky as the sun sets and it turns red.
My eyes traverse from the sunset to the white clouds floating up above.
They are floating in the tranquility of the mist of the blue skies love.
I watch them as they lazily move slowly with the wind
And wonder if the day will come when the clouds come to an end.
My mind can pick out shapes and forms that remind me of many things
But most of all they look like clouds, like birds but with no wings.
They paint upon the bright blue sky I realize what it is I see.
What they really and truly look like is the breath of God to me.
So, my friend I invite you to try this little exercise.
Take some time and simply lay back and gaze upon the skies.
God lives there. God lives here among you and also me
He is the sky, he is the mountains and he is the sea.
