During World War II, a young American is recruited by the U. S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS)to go to southern Ireland. His mission: thwart any attempt by the Nazis to capture one of the country's ports.

A good five miles from the castle, the road became clogged with every conceivable form of transportation known in rural Ireland. There were hundred of bikers, men and women riding horses without saddles, horse and donkey-drawn carts loaded with people, and a stream of walkers of all ages, accompanied by their dogs, cats, goats and sheep.
Most remarkable was a parade of marchers that stretched, division after division, for miles through Cork's verdant countryside. Color guards led each division with flags that had flown in many of Ireland's gallant, but usually losing, battles for liberty. Banners represented every county in Ireland, north and south, as well as individual cities and towns.
Behind the color guards marched scores of what, some would say, resembled the Faerie cavalcades described in Ireland's heroic literature.
