December 4th 1852 At a meeting held, pursuant to appointment at the Schoolhouse near Mrs. Brown's in Orangeville on Saturday December 4th 1852, to consider the prospect of the Baptist denomination in this vicinity, Elder Samuel Lamb presiding, and J. H. Calkins being chosen clerk. After an expression of the views of those present it was unanimously resolve that as members of the Baptist denomination we feel that the time has come, in the Providence of God, when we are called upon to maintain a Gospel Church in this place. That we invite a counsel of Brethren from Baptist Church is to deliberate with us and organize a Baptist Church in Gospel Order to meet at this place on Wednesday December 29th 1852. Adjourned to meet at this place Saturday the 18th instead.
