As a child, Rebekah Stoltzfus suffered a freak accident that left her legs paralyzed. Now, confined to a wheelchair, she feels she'll never measure up to the expectations of her Pennsylvania Amish community that a woman marry and raise a family. She longs to be loved for who she is but has come to believe that marriage is not for her. Feeling that she's a burden to her family and struggling with self-pity, Rebekah asks God for a miracle---a way for her to become self-supporting. Rebekah glanced up several times during the meal, only to find Daniel staring at her. At least she thought he was staring. Maybe he was just in deep thought about something. Could be he was thinkin' about that incident at the market and wonderin' if he should tell Mom about it after all.
