Buffet of the Mind is an anthology of different forms and styles in the world of poetry. From the haiku to the sonnet to the senryu to many others, Buffet of the Mind can introduce the reader to the different styles of poetry while enjoying the content thereof.

End of Dew

the willowy wisps of the avant-garde deface the well-worn air in panted breath
with tendril touch in psalms of rest
by adorant praise to fresh-lanced dew

glistening coats of pearlized drops,
nature’s nectar in amethyst arrays
nestled calmly upon stately sprays
waiting for dawnings’ yawns

to drink it deeply
to return it abruptly

Excerpt

You won't find this in Buffet of the Mind, but here's a little sample of the voice in which it was written. This write was inspired by a little girl (now grown into a fine lady) who showed off her new dress and proclaimed, as she spun around like a ballerina on a music box, "Look at me, I a lady."

I, A Lady

she twirled in mem'ries long since past
"a lady," she did proclaim
announcement bold for all to see
chiffon in character, if not in name

the years, her partner dear, in all that she might do
passed like a soft morning's glistening
speaking quietly, suff'ring gently
obeisance e'en stood still listening

to the words of her charmed life's song
to the charm of her life's song's words

she twirled in mem'ries, spent in soft scenes pure
recalled to reoccur, granting glimpses in her blur
standing on the promises of once loved, always so
reminiscence ruminating...while gentle heartbeats stir

to the song of a life lived charmed
to the life of a heart lived warm

she twirls through the mind of mem'ries lived long
in the heart of a father's simple sunset song
list'ning to her words over again and again
"I, a lady" "Look at me", she does begin

...and the song plays on

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
